This has been the most intense travel experience of my life. I calculated the total travel time between leaving my house Monday morning and arrival in the dorms Wednesday night to be 51 hours. We dealt with a delay leaving London, too, so a number of us from the program had to change our flights upon arrival in the Johannesburg airport in South Africa. But we finally made it to Botswana! Without our checked luggage. It was exhausting.
But we're finally here! Our bags have all arrived, we all have new clothing to wear, showers have been had, and we all have sheets. Everything seems to be on track now, despite taking place at the bizarrely relaxed Botswana rate.
The next step was/is getting oriented on campus. Most of yesterday was spent on general introductions to college life, including an 11.45am tea break (scheduled for 10.30am). Today will (hopefully) be more applicable knowledge like how to travel around the city/country/continent and navigating the campus and city. So, after the tours and orientation I will hopefully have pictures to share and something less boring and vague to post!
